Locker Room Post Win: Baylor

Kenny Cherry

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - ASAP Sports provides quotations from inside Baylor's locker room on Friday after the Bears' win over Nebraska..

Kenny Chery, G, Jr.

On opening round win …
"First of all this game was really important for us. Like everybody says, the first game is the hardest. We just wanted to come out and play aggressive and that's exactly what we did. We played great defense. The coaching staff prepared us well and we did what we were supposed to do and we ended up with the win."

On Canadians playing in the NCAA Tournament …
"Coming from Canada we have a lot on our shoulders. We all want to play well and every Canadian is playing really good. I'm really proud of Canada right now."

Ricardo Gathers, F , So.

On possible next opponent …
"We played ULL earlier in the year and it's always hard to play a team twice. Then you know, I would love to play Doug McDermott (Creighton). Just to see how he plays and how he would play against us. I know he's a hell of a player. I think it would be a good matchup and a good test for him too."

Brady Heslip, G , Sr.

On opening round win …
"It was just good that we were able to execute and take them out of what they wanted to do for the most part. It was good to get some guys some tournament experience and get a win under our belt. The toughest game to win is always the first one."

On looking forward to next round …
"Looking for us to be more calm as the opening tournament jitters will be out. We'll focus on playing our style of basketball and executing better."

On benefit of Baylor's recent tournament experience …
"Everybody really knows that if we lose it's over. I think that everybody really understands what that means that we will be going home for the next two months of school and nobody wants it to be over. That makes us a more dangerous team."

On Canada's impact on the NCAA tournament …
"It's been great. Obviously it's been growing exponentially over the past couple of years. It's great to see Canadians representing Canada well."

Royce O'Neale, F, Jr.

On opening round win …
"We're feeling good. They say the first one is the hardest to win so we're glad we got that one under our belt, now we're just looking forward to the next one."

On playing in San Antonio …
"It's good for us. It's kind of a home advantage for us since it's just down the road for us."

On Baylor's bright uniforms …
"We just like to look good. Look good, play good." Recommended Stories
